All of our proteins are contained within plastic packaging. The ingredients in Rapid Cook meals should be removed from their packaging prior to cooking.
Proteins for Sous Vide meals should be cooked in their plastic packaging. These proteins are packaged in thermally safe plastic that is safe for human consumption. Following the instructions on the meal card, place proteins (in their packaging) in a Suvie pan, cover with water, and insert into Suvie. Input settings and cook now or schedule.
When sous viding your own ingredients, as long as the plastic bag is rated for sous vide: food safe, high temperature cooking, then it is perfectly safe to cook in the plastic bag. Generally, sous vide temperatures are lower than the temperatures that cause plastic to break down. If using the submersion method, we recommend using plastic freezer bags.

Please note that some of these sous vide suggested temperatures are lower than what the FDA recommends. Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of food-borne illness. If you're pregnant, elderly, or sick you should use extra caution. Even though the temperatures are lower than the FDA recommended temperatures, sous vide is a widely accepted cooking method because the cooking times are generally long enough for "pasteurization" to make your food safe. Please use caution when cooking below the FDA recommended temperatures, you can always adjust your protein temperatures to what the FDA recommends.
